Yogbhayananda Shri Madhavnath Maharaj was born on Saka 1779 Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, i.e. Thursday 26 March 1857, in a Deshastha Brahmin family of Mrs. Mathurabai and Mr. Malharda Ratnaparkhi (Kulkarni) at Pangari, a village in Karvi, district Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh.

Shri Madhavnath Maharaj attained spiritual enlightenment in the Balaji temple which contains the samadhi of Shri. Guptanath. After that, Shri Madhavnath Maharaj when thirteen years old went on agyatvash a journey which would take him to Badri-Kedar, Rameshwaram, the twelve jyotirlingas and the samadhi sthaan of the Nava Natha's.

Work and social influence
Shri Madhavnath Maharaj spread the importance of Yoga and Namaskar all over India. He blessed his followers to build a Lakshmi-Venkatesh temple at Rangari in Devgaon district, Chatrpati sambhaji nagar. The Shrinath temple was then built at Thorgavahana in Jalgaon district.The Shri madhavnath maharaj inspired his close diciple Lakshmibai Dagdu Sheth Halwai to built the famous Dagdusheth Ganpati Mandir and Datta Temple at Budhwar Peth, Pune.
